Well, there are some factors why air conditioner does not work properly (either too hot or too wet)! Unfortunately, sometimes when it comes, you don’t have adequate budget and the time to pay and hire a professional HVAC repair company. The repair costs could higher than your expectation, especially if the unit gets the severe damage due to the improperly maintenance. Therefore, the regular proper-maintenance is so recommended and important to ensure the AC unit gets the best service and the last a very long time.

Not powerful, too wet and too hot problems can be caused some technician problems. And once again, unfortunately if we are discussing technician problems then these are too difficult for DIY option, particularly if we are beginner (or do not have the adequate technician or mechanical skill). But there are also some simply factors that can be the cause of why air conditioner doesn’t work properly! Such as; wrong size and other simply mechanical issues. And make it easily by having the user’s manual. It is also useful as a safety precautions-guide which helpful to minimize and prevent injury either to yourself or to the AC unit itself.

How important sizes (BTUs) are?

It is the familiar and crucial issue when considering buying and installing AC unit! Well, although air conditioning unit uses the cooling technology that can be estimated its performance but there are some variables which can influence the way a unit performs or we can say that this is not the exact science which can be calculated correctly 100 percent.

Therefore, there are also several points that you should take into consideration when selecting the proper size BTU of air conditioner that actually you need, such as the extreme weather level of your local area and the large size of the room.

What is the negative effect when using the oversize and undersize unit? The big disadvantage is the poor efficiency performance that finally affects to result the high energy bill in the end of the month. Oversize unit usually will cool the room too quickly. It also makes the dehumidifier system works improperly that can result too lower humidity. On other hand, lower size also will result the uncomfortable zone. With or without the lower-size unit, the room gets the similar condition because it cannot cool each space of the room powerfully and even will make the unit works hardly and finally fails faster.

Simply DIY maintenances if the unit is too wet:

1. Too wet problem can be used as indication that there is pooling and dripping near of the AC unit. The extreme hot weather during summer season will make the unit works heavily. It is the mostly reason that can effect to this problem.
2. Check the drainage tubes! Make sure they are in good condition. But if you find there are some that have sprung a leak, don’t worry. You can find the new one easily in the hardware store to replace them.
3. The other case, perhaps there is algae formed inside of the drainage tubes. Ice is also can be the factor of causing the blockage. You can use a long instrument to remove the debris.

On the other hand, for (too hot condition):

1. First, turn off the AC system completely, make sure it by also shutting off the circuit power.
2. Clean the condenser! There are maybe some leaves, rocks, and dirt-clods that can effect to performance of condenser.
3. Then if there is dirt-buildup in the vents of condenser then clean them gently.
4. After ensuring the condenser and vents are clean, then turn on the unit and look at the pipes of condenser. The pipes should be warm on one side and other side should be slightly cool when the AC system working.
