casement air conditioning

Well, have you ever used casement air conditioner? For some people who have not too big window size, maybe it is the best alternative solution if you want to install and use window ac models. It is specially designed to avoid the slide up or slide down mechanism that finally will be helpful if we have the narrow windows. Generally, the installation of casement air conditioning uses slide across and swing outwards mechanism.

And like other regular window air conditioning units, all major parts of casement units are also housed into one unit, including the compressor and condenser. Moreover, they are also available in a wide range of sizes selection (almost similar like portable or free standing air conditioning units) from 8000 BTU up to more than 12000 BTU of their size power cooling capacity. They are ideally can be used to cool the small or medium rooms that have large space around 500 square foot (or 47 square meters), depending on the size of the unit itself. Like other regular units, the size consideration is also so important in here! So make sure you choose one that has proper size with the sq-ft large size of your room.

We can also find them in a wide range of the energy efficiency rating such as EER, SEER and also available units that come with Energy Star approval or not. Some that has Energy Star approval and higher value of SEER are often priced more expensive but promise better efficiency performance so they can pay back your money on paying lower utility bills for every month of summer season.

What you should consider on choosing and buying casement air conditioners?

  1. Considering the energy efficiency rating is the important basic procedure that must be concerned carefully! Like mentioned before, higher value of the EER is equivalent to the better performance of the unit when running which means the unit will consume less energy. Yes, higher SEER means more money that you have to pay to purchase. But if you seriously want to cut the monthly energy costs, this option is so advisable.
  2. One of the most reasons why people choose them is due to their more practical installation that can be finished with DIY option, so thus we don’t have to hire a professional installer (free cost for the installation). Therefore, make sure the unit that you’re purchasing can be installed easier.
  3. Check the features that are actually needed when you operate the unit, because more features means more expensive to purchase. Some basic features that you can prioritize: remote control, programmable thermostat, the quality of air filter (make sure it can be cleaned or maintained easier), etc. Consider also the speed of the fans! Make sure they will keep running properly in long term!
  4. There are some top brands to choose from, such as LG, Sharp, Mitsubishi, GE, Amcor, Kenmore (as popular as with their tent air conditioner products), and still many more. Choose one that offers longer lifetime warranty with not too expensive in price. Read also some objective testimonials on internet!
  5. The last, unfortunately casement air conditioning cannot work as quietness as central air conditioners. Therefore, don’t miss to check the decibel level of the unit! Lower decibel is better (quieter).
