Although, these units are so useful during summer season & off during winter season but they also must be kept as well during winter season in order to make sure they are last longer and still can be used powerfully for the next summer. And fortunately, there is not required any difficult technical works to winterize air conditioning! We all agree that the air conditioner maintenance is not only important to keep the unit work powerfully but also will be helpful to prolog the effectiveness & efficiency that are so related to the amount of money that you must drain from your pocket to pay the monthly energy bill. The following are some basic tips on how to winterize and maintain your air conditioner, especially for condenser during winter months:

1. There must be available exterior circuit in your central AC system! It has important function to control the central power of electric energy to operate the system. Before touching any components in your AC unit, first you have to turn off completely the exterior power or exterior circuit! Try to open the box & lid and then there must be available the circuit that you can find! It is usually a red rectangle and also equipped with a handle. Then pull it out, flip upside down it then reinsert into the slot! Don’t also forget to flip lid shut. This procedure is important and has a number of important tasks, particularly to prevent and avoid electrocution or any damage when working with your AC unit! Not only that, the accidentally risk of touching and turning on the unit during winter also can be anticipated as well.

2. As well we know, water condensation is the normal byproduct of cooling process! But it can be serious problem for the unit (especially for condenser) if it is exposed to freezing during winter! Therefore, make sure you have drained the water condensation completely before restoring the unit for the next few months.

3. Take a look at the outside of air conditioning unit! Make sure there is clean from any grass or leaves or debris! You can remove them by utilizing a whisk broom or corn!

4. Check also the casing! Ensure the seals are tight enough by checking crevices as well. If you find broken seal or crack, you can call a professional service to fix it out professionally and properly.

5. Buy and use a proper cover for your unit. As well we know, central air conditioner usually has outdoor unit that contains compressor, condenser, etc. This cover will be superior to protect either for indoor unit or outdoor unit. But once again, you have to clean and remove any things that can damage the unit such as water condensation, dust, leaves, etc before restoring the unit and using this cover for the next few months! During winter season, it is also recommended to check the unit regularly, remove the ice build-up or snow from the top of unit regularly!
